Banksia Pods

An unusual flower pod/nut from the Banksia Grandis tree found in Western Australia. The fruit may be 4 to 9 inches long with an average size of 6 inches. The nuts are hard and solid, with seed pods running from the outside, towards the center core. Easily turned giving a very unusual result.

Preturned Bowl Blanks are rough turned , sealed and seasoned, ready for you the turner to complete. We stock a variety of bowls made from Nova Scotia native woods (birch, ash, maple, cherry, beech) as well as birdseye maple from New Brunswick.

Tagua Nut

Tagua nuts come from the seed of the Ivory Palm which is found in South America. They are used as a substitute for Elephant Ivory and are ideal for small turnings and carving. All of the nuts have small interior voids. They can be worked with a variety of tools (files, drills, rasps, etc.)
